Success!  First Annual Medford Lakes Triathlon.

Medford Lakes welcomed over 300 Sprint Triathlon racers to
our town on Aug 28.
The 1st Annual Medford Lakes Colony Sprint Triathlon was held early in the morning Saturday.
After a quarter mile swim in Lower Aetna Lake, racers mounted bikes and raced 13.5 miles through Medford Lakes and Medford.  Participants finished with a 3.2-mile run.

The race was completely sold out and attracted racers from PA, NY, NJ, DE and as far away as CO and SC. There were 40 Medford Lakes racers registered.  For a complete list of competitors go to www.dqtridu.com and click Medford Lakes under the “Results” section.

This fun event generated extra revenue directly to your Medford Lakes Colony that can be used for the upkeep of our beautiful lakes, beaches, playgrounds and trails.

Top Medford Lakes Finishers (including Team entries): Jason Sharpe, Team King, Denise Hildebrandt, Brian Potter, Team ME, David Crafts and Andrew Steele.  Brothers Daniel and Julien Moral Shields were the youngest Lakers to finish.

Congratulations to all of the participants and the organizers on a fantastic event.

Thank you to Ken Wolson for the vision to suggest this awesome fundraiser and carry it forward to completion.

Thanks so much to all the Lakers who got up early and volunteered.
An event this big just would not have worked without you.

Scott Strong recruited and organized all the volunteers to show up in the morning.
Jeff Woodward put together the bike course and coordinated volunteer needs for all the corners and turns – thank-you! Our
good friends at the Civil Air Patrol also helped all morning – thanks!  Medford Lakes Lifeguards supported the swim – Thanks!

Our own Medford Lakes Police Chief Martine and Sgt Dugan did an amazing job controlling vehicle, pedestrian and bike traffic for what turned out to be about 500 people descending on our little town.  Keep in mind we only have a few officers and extremely limited resources.

Organizer, Ken Wolson, spoke to several racers and family members not from the area that said how impressed they were with Beach 1 and Vaughan Hall and the beautiful town we have.
