NJDEP DRINKING WATER SUPPLY UPDATE (7/23/2026)
A wetter rain pattern which started in July has improved certain water supply indicators, but prior dry conditions caused by the prior two years of below average precipitation have not yet been overcome, particularly for streamflow and unconfined groundwater. Localized flooding can occur in New Jersey, even during a during a drought. Water conservation, particularly outdoors, coupled with consistent precipitation can mitigate drought conditions. With the ongoing Drought Warning, New Jerseyans are urged to continue to Use Water Wisely.
NJ Rainfall totals this week
Between 0.06 and 4.31 inches of precipitation (average of 0.98 inches) were observed between last week’s Drinking Water Supply Indicators (7/12/26) and this week’s (7/19/26).
Next Update: 7/29/26-7/30/26
